Abstract
Purpose: the work aimed at isolation and characterization some bioactive constituent(s)from aerial part of lactuca serriola hance by CombiflashNEXTGEN and high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).
Method: lactuca serriola was extracted with hexan and then 250mg of hexan extract mix with 4g slica gel and loaded in cartilage then bounded to gold colum of comi flash using a solvent system comprised of ethyl acetate: n-hexan (10%ethyl acetate 90%hexanv/v) used to elute the column successively .The fractions result analysis by thin layer chromatography and high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).
Results: column chromatography which resulted in the isolation and purification of a white needle-like crystalline substance analysis by thin layer chromatography and high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). Including b-sitosterol(11mg) and stigmasterol(7mg) , were obtained from 250 mg of hexan fraction.
Conclusion: by CombiflashNEXTGEN is a rapid and effective method for isolating and purifying plant sterol,(b-sitosterol and stigmasterol).
