Description
Posaconazole (PCZ) is a broad-spectrum triazole antifungal drug.
According to the biopharmaceutical classification system, PCZ is classed as a
Class II (high permeability/low solubility) drug. Poor solubility results in poor
oral bioavailability (~50%) of PCZ, and gastrointestinal complaints were the
most common drawbacks associated with available oral dosage forms in the
markets. Therefore, the alternative delivery system is necessary to develop
topically.
The research aims to enhance of solubility of posaconazole by loading in
nanosponges and further providing an efficient way of site-specific and topical
localization by formulating topical hydrogel containing posaconazole-loaded
nanosponges.
