On the morning of Tuesday, September 8, 2026, the Center for the Revival of Arab Scientific Heritage at the University of Baghdad held a scholarly seminar titled "Quranic Objectives (*Maqasid*) According to Early and Later Scholars." The seminar was presented by Dr. Taha Sabti Ibrahim—a faculty member at the Center—in the Professor Nabila Abdul-Munim Daoud Hall. He discussed the concept of Quranic objectives and its conceptual and philosophical evolution across the intellectual methodologies of early and later scholars. He highlighted the impact of these objectives on understanding the Quranic text and deriving rulings and concepts from it, emphasizing that an analytical reading involves comparing the evolution of *Maqasid*-based thought in exegesis and the Quranic text. He also outlined the methodological differences and scholarly perspectives distinguishing early scholars (*al-mutaqaddimun*) from contemporary thinkers and exegetes (*al-muta'akhkhirun*), as well as how these objectives are utilized to understand the objectives of Sharia and address modern variables.
