On Tuesday morning, March 31, 2026, at 10:00 AM, the Center for the Revival of Arab Scientific Heritage at the University of Baghdad organized a scientific seminar entitled "Scientific Search Engines and the Humanities." The session was chaired by Dr. Salar Ali Khader, Head of the Department of Pure Sciences, and its rapporteur was Dr. Sahar Hassan Abdul Rasoul. They explained the seminar's objectives, which included highlighting modern digital tools that contribute to enhancing the quality of Arab intellectual output and facilitating researchers' access to global resources. The seminar included a series of valuable lectures presented by Dr. Labib Mohsen Abdullah (Department of Computer Engineering, University of Baghdad), who reviewed the technical challenges facing humanities researchers and ways to bridge the gap between researchers and global academic search engines. Dr. Alia Al-Barrak (Department of Computer Science, University of Baghdad) also presented, addressing the standards of scientific research rigor and the importance of search engines in developing scientific writing in both the humanities and pure sciences. Hind Amer Fadhil, a lecturer from our center, presented a research paper on the importance of Google Scholar and ResearchGate in the humanities, focusing on how to enhance a researcher's digital presence and document scholarly citations. Assistant Lecturer Zainab Jamal Nawrouz, also from our center, concluded the sessions with a paper on the importance of Scopus in developing humanities studies, explaining the mechanisms of publishing in international databases and their impact on raising the ranking of educational institutions. The seminar concluded with a number of practical recommendations aimed at developing academic research skills, including empowering researchers, activating academic profiles, supporting rigorous publishing, and overcoming digital barriers. The seminar included scholarly discussions on the topic, and in conclusion, the center's administration thanked the lecturers, wishing them continued success in their academic careers.
