Abstract:
Modern clinical management of Temporomandibular Disorders (TMD) strongly emphasizes a non-invasive, conservative treatment approach, particularly during the early and acute phases of joint and myofascial dysfunction. Current evidence-based protocols advocate for reversible interventional modalities—such as occlusal splints, physical therapy, pharmacotherapy, and patient education—prior to considering any irreversible surgical or structural procedures. Furthermore, clinical guidelines establish that orthodontic procedures are not indicated as primary therapeutic modalities for resolving existing TMD conditions, reinforcing a clear distinction between orthodontic tooth movement and craniomandibular joint rehabilitation.
