The UV light from the sun is a major factor contributing to the degradation of silicone elastomers, necessitating their replacement. The addition of UV stabilizers can help mitigate this photo-degradation. This study aimed to investigate the effects of adding Bisoctrizole (the UV absorber) on the UV absorption properties of VS-50 maxillofacial silicone and the stability of this property with aging as well as its effect on tensile strength, elongation percentage, tear strength, hardness, and roughness of the silicone material.
