On Tuesday morning, May 19, 2026, at 11:00 AM, the Center for the Revival of Arab Scientific Heritage at the University of Baghdad organized a scientific seminar entitled "Khatusha: Capital of the Hittites and Cradle of Anatolian Civilization: A Study in Civilizational Development." The seminar was presented by Assistant Lecturer Naila Omar Shihab, a faculty member at our center. She discussed the importance of the city of Khatusha as one of the most prominent cultural centers in ancient Anatolia and its influential role in the history of the ancient Near East. The researcher highlighted the city's strategic geographical location, which contributed to its political, economic, and religious prosperity, as well as its connection to a network of important trade routes linking Anatolia with Mesopotamia and the Levant, thus enhancing its cultural standing throughout the ages. The research also reviewed the most prominent cultural achievements of the city of Khatusha, including the walls, gates and temples that reflected the development of architecture, fortifications and religious rituals among the Khitians, in addition to what the archaeological excavations revealed of landmarks that confirm the importance of the city as a prominent model of ancient Anatolian civilization.
