Iraq is facing increasing water scarcity challenges. These challenges have intensified the need for sustainable water resources management practices, among which water harvesting dams have emerged as an effective solution for capturing and storing seasonal runoff, mitigating flood risks, enhancing groundwater recharge, and supporting local development in arid and semi-arid regions. This workshop aims to explore the current status of water harvesting dam projects in Iraq, highlighting their role in improving water security and strengthening resilience against climate variability.
