Psychoactive substances are drugs that affect the brain and change mood, behavior, and thinking. Examples include opioids, cannabis, cocaine, amphetamines, and synthetic drugs. Chemical precursors are substances used to produce these drugs.
These substances can also affect the blood and the hematological system (which includes red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets, and bone marrow).
