يحتفل العالم باليوم العالمي للغة العربية في الثامن عشر من كانون الأول / ديسمبر من كل عام لغة؛ لأنّها لغةٌ تحمل هُويةً وتاريخًا وحضارة. إنها لغة الفصاحةِ والبيان، ولغة الشعر والأدب، لغة حملت لنا تراثًا أدبيًّا وثقافيًّا هائلًا، بدايةً من شعراء المعلقات، وصولًا إلى الأدباء والمفكرين المعاصرين. وقد أدركَ الأجدادُ عظمة هذه اللغة، فاعتنوا بها وبعلومهِا، وتركوا لنا إرثًا لغويًا عظيمًا، ننهل منه ونفخر به.
The world celebrates World Arabic Language Day on December 18th every year because it is a language that embodies identity, history, and civilization. It is the language of eloquence and expression, the language of poetry and literature, a language that has bequeathed to us a vast literary and cultural heritage, from the poets of the Mu'allaqat to contemporary writers and thinkers. Our ancestors recognized the greatness of this language, so they nurtured it and its sciences, leaving us a magnificent linguistic legacy from which we draw inspiration and of which we are proud.
