The session began with Dr. Liqaa Shakir Al-Sharifi (Lecturer) recalling the poets who praised Baghdad—such as Al-Mutanabbi, Abu Nuwas, who portrayed it as a home for humanity and life, and Al-Sharif Al-Radi, who poured into it his longing and melancholy—while Al-Jawahiri in modern times restored its poetic radiance and eternal presence. She then presented her research titled “Baghdad as Portrayed in the Words of Poets.” The session was moderated by Assistant Lecturer Hajar Basim, a faculty member in our Center, with the participation of a distinguished group of researchers.
The symposium witnessed contributions from several specialized professors who presented scholarly studies covering diverse topics that enriched the themes of the session. The researchers reviewed the main findings of their studies, each providing a summary of their research and the ideas they reached.
At the forefront was the participation of Professor Dr. Firdaws Abdul Rahman, faculty member at the College of Arts / Al-Mustansiriyah University – Department of History, with her research titled “Customs and Traditions of Baghdadi Society in the Ottoman Era.”
