The thesis aims to study the current state of new cities in terms of realistic, geographical, and economic factors, in order to identify indicators of success and failure in site selection. It then seeks to measure the relative importance of new city sites compared to planning standards, ranking them in terms of importance and suitability to these standards. Furthermore, it aims to clarify the fundamental role of new city site selection in the regional development process of the governorate.
