Description

Titanium and its alloys have been indispensable in dental and orthopedic treatments for over fifty years, mainly due to their strong mechanical properties. Ensuring that these implants integrate successfully and are free from infection for better antibacterial properties and lasting stability. This study aimed to develop, formulate, and characterize the new surface modification of commercially pure titanium implants via electrospinning a coating layer of pectin-chitosan composite. Therefore, the objectives of this study were to enhance the physical and biomechanical properties with specific topographical surface characteristics, antibacterial and biocompatibility efficiency, and to improve the osseointegration.
