Description

Research problems and objectives: Titanium and titanium alloy implants have been utilized in dental and orthopedic therapies for over 5 decade due to their favorable mechanical properties. Ensuring osseointegration is crucial for the long-term stability of implants, especially in the face of potential infections. Improving the overall performance of titanium implants concerning antibacterial properties and osteogenic function is a pertinent area of investigation. The aim of this study is to develop, formulate, and characterize a new surface modification of titanium implants by electrospinning a film composed of watery extracted cinnamon loaded with a blend of chitosan and PCL polymer over commercially pure titanium. The objective is to enhance biomechanical strength, antibacterial efficiency, and osseointegration for improved implant performance.
