Description

DNA methylation patterns of stat5a gene and E-cadherin gene in oral lichen planus

Oral lichen planus is a chronic inflammatory disease. Although its etiology is not well understood, the role of T lymphocytes in its inflammatory events is recognized. Deoxyribonucleic acid methylation is a major occurrence underlying epigenetic changes in human cells. Identifying the epigenetic mechanisms involved in the pathogenesis of this immune-mediated condition is fundamental for understanding the inflammatory reaction that occurs in the disease.
