Self-ligating brackets was developed with promises to create a low friction environment at the bracket-archwire interface and decreases the overall treatment duration through ligature-free gate mechanism. Chair-side bracket reconditioning methods was more time and cost efficient to overcome the frequent bracket debonding situations. However these procedures may affect the bracket’s dimensions, gate function mechanism and compromise the bracket/ wire friction interaction. This study aimed to evaluate and compare the effects of different in-office reconditioning methods on bracket’s dimensions, gate patency and friction resistance of different stainless steel self ligating brackets.
