Dental caries is one of the most widespread oral health issues worldwide and is a multi-factorial illness. It is initiated by the interactions among saliva, fermentable carbohydrates, acidogenic bacteria, and various host factors. Adolescents are at a higher risk of developing dental caries. Several studies have indicated a greater incidence of dental caries among adolescents compared to other age cohorts due to the crucial role of adolescence in preventing oral health issues. This study will be conducted among adolescents to evaluate salivary cathelicidins (LL37) and salivary Statherian as biomarkers for dental caries in relation to nutritional status.
