Description

Radiology plays an important role in the diagnosis and management of hepatic and biliary pathology. The most common imaging modalities used in the evaluation of hepatic and biliary pathology are computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and ultrasound (US). CT is the gold standard imaging modality for the evaluation of hepatic and biliary pathology because it can provide detailed images of the liver, biliary tract, and pancreas. MRI is a valuable tool for the evaluation of hepatic and biliary pathology because it can provide better soft tissue contrast than CT, which can be helpful in the diagnosis of liver tumors, such as hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and cholangiocarcinoma (CCA). US can be used as a rapid bedside screening tool to assess for liver enlargement, masses, or free fluid in the abdomen or pelvis.

The goal of the lecture on hepatic and biliary pathology from radiological point of view is to provide teaching staff at Alkindy College of Medicine and Alkindy Hospital with the knowledge and skills they need to use radiological imaging to diagnose and manage patients with hepatic and biliary pathology. The lecture will cover the indications for radiological imaging in hepatic and biliary pathology, the techniques used for radiological imaging of the liver and biliary tract, and the interpretation of radiological findings in hepatic and biliary pathology. The lecture will also discuss the limitations of radiological imaging in hepatic and biliary pathology and the role of radiological imaging in the management of patients with hepatic and biliary pathology.

The target audience for the lecture on hepatic and biliary pathology from radiological point of view includes all teaching staff at Alkindy College of Medicine and Alkindy Hospital who are involved in the care of patients with hepatic and biliary pathology. This includes radiologists, hepatologists, surgeons, nurses, and paramedics. The lecture will be presented in a format that is appropriate for all levels of medical education, and it will include both didactic and hands-on components.
